JV BOYS OUTLAST MACDONALD IN SLOPPY SATURDAY RESCHEDULE

JV Boys outlast MacDonald in Sloppy Saturday Reschedule

BALL IS LIFE

Baller University | 2/4/2024

The Lynbrook JV Boys Basketball team traveled to Santa Clara Saturday afternoon to take on the MacDonald Condors in a game rescheduled from earlier in the season. What awaited both teams was a sloppy affair complete with feuding teammates, turnovers galore, and nearly a late start after the gym wasn't opened until thirty minutes prior to tipoff.

In the first quarter, the Condors and Vikings both started out slow, both missing several close shots and clearly looking out of the groove. The Vikings took a one-point lead as the quarter closed but started to break open the game a bit in the second quarter as the Condors threw the ball around and yelled at each other in an almost comical manner.

The Vikes took at 9-point lead into the half but were able to get a big start at the start of the third and extended their lead to as many as 18 points. The lead was 36-24 going into the fourth. Much of the third and fourth quarter were both teams trading trey attempts interrupted by frequent turnovers. MacDonald sat in a 2-3 zone allowing the threes to rain down, while Lynbrook apparently forgot how to play man defense allowing the Condors to attempt threes at will.

Neither team shot particularly well, and the game closed out at 50-38, not much change from the first half. Asked about the game, Lynbrook Coach Ajit Vijayakumar simply said, "insanity." An unnamed fan in the stands seemed to capture the opinion of the crowd when he yelled out, "Why is this so bad?"

Lynbrook and MacDonald will meet again for the season finale on 2/12.
