The Boys and Girls Basketball programs welcomed Lynbrook Staff to their quad games on Friday to thank them for their support throughout the season. Plenty of staff were on hand for the four games, along with a strong number of students and parents for the Varsity matchups.

The JV Boys led off the quad with a back-and-forth struggle with Saratoga. Both teams played solid defense and at the half the Falcons led 19-17 in what was largely a good game. Soiling the matchup was questionable officiating with hindered both squads massively, leading to poor game flow and downright astonishment from the stands. In the second half the Viking were able to capitalize off of seven points scored by "Wrong" Rong as well as a clutch three by "Yung J" Gao. They build a lead, but the 2-3 zone of Saratoga proved to be too effective for future scoring bursts. Leading the Falcons was their post who used his superior height and low post game to score 23 of the team's 44 overall points, including 10 of those points in the 4th quarter. "Tall players game" Lynbrook Coach Jeff Bale said after the game "If you aren't tall, you'd be better be great at some other skill."

With less than thirty-seconds left to play, down two, the Vikes attempted to get the ball into the post to "Big Tonka" Yu. While successful, he was called for a dubious 3-second in the key violation, which video later showed to be clearly under that limit. Saratoga followed with one free throw after a Viking foul and the Vikes brought the ball down and were fouled with 6 second to play. "Lefty Twin" Li hit the first and purposedly missed the second. The rebound was grabbed by Saratoga but Lynbrook jumped in for possession and a jump-ball was called. With the possession in their favor, the Vikes entered the ball and had a chance to tie at the buzzer but the shot missed, giving the Falcons the 44-41 win.

"JJ" Jung, hurt after contact on a layup, played through the pain and led the Vikings with 13 points, including their only field goal of the 4th quarter. "Big Tonka" Yu scored twelve and grabbed ten rebounds on the night. The Vikings are now 4-5 in league play heading into matchups with Homestead and Cupertino next week.

In the Boys Varsity game, it was set to have another lower scoring affair. The Vikings and Falcons both ran long drawn-out possessions. Mid-way through the 2nd quarter the Falcons took a 16-9 lead. The Vikings hit back with a pair of three pointers from "Lil Puddle" Dwivedi on an out-of-bounds play, and a left corner three from "Charlie Buckets" Loper. After a failed Toga drive to the lane, "Chainz" Marks hit a transition three from the right corner to give the Vikes the lead 18-16 with 1:39 left in the half. Saratoga would answer with a single three, to claw back their lead and go into the half with a 19-18 lead.

The first six minutes of the third quarter would be back and forth between the two teams as the score very slowly increased. Lynbrook recaptured the lead with 6:29 on a pair of free-throws by "Skinny" Tsao. With 4:26 remaining Steven Ning hit a spinning jumper from 6 feet out to take it back for Toga. "Charlie Buckets" Loper hit a trey off an out-of-bounds play to make it 23-21 Lynbrook with 3:56 to play. With just under three to go in the quarter, Saatvik Kommareddi hit a baby hook off the glass to tie it back up and thirty seconds later Caleb Yu put Toga ahead with an unaided driving layup 25-23. That would be the last time Toga would need to gain the lead as Alex Sinton would connect with 1:43 left on a top of the arc trey. "Lil Puddle" Dwivedi would get a put-back shot for two, and "Charlie Buckets" Loper would hit a trey at the buzzer for the Vikings 8 feet beyond the top of the arc, to close the quarter out with Toga leading 31-28.

From there it was Toga's game to lose. With the Falcons only scoring an anemic seven points in the 4th it seemed an upset of the undefeated in league play Falcons might be likely. However, the Vikings started the quarter with back-to-back-to-back turnovers, followed by a desperation shot as the shot clock expired. Two more awful turnovers, and six minutes had flown by. The Vikings would put up a handful of bricks from outside, but the game would close 38-28 Saratoga, the Vikings having not scored a point the entire quarter. The Vikings fell into a three-way tie for third place (along with Monta Vista and Fremont), while Saratoga improved to 9-0.
