Varsity Boys Basketball won in thrilling fashion Tuesday night with a game winner by Mrinal "Lil Puddle" Dwivedi with three seconds left in the 4th quarter. The game had been locked at 45-45 when the Vikes controlled the ball for the last 35 seconds. After being fouled, the Vikes wound down the clock, narrowly avoided a turnover and whipped the ball around the arc to get it to Lil Puddle who nailed the deep three from the right wing. The shot propelled the Vikes to their third consecutive win and the Vikes now find themselves 3-0 in league play.

The winning three comes after a weekend of heavy shooting for the Vikes with the annual program wide 25xChallenge where each player shoots over 600 shots. The timing couldn't have been better according to Head Coach Rick Appler. "I am proud of Mrinal for stepping up and hitting the big shot. He told me he couldn't have done it without the 25xChallenge fundraiser."

Earlier in the evening, JV played a close game with the Santa Clara JV squad. The Vikes jumped out to an early lead and led by seven at the half, but the Bruins pulled even with the Vikes as the 3rd quarter came to a close. An 8-3 run by the Vikes over a four minute or so time period gave Lynbrook the buffer it needed to close out the game, ending with a 54-47 victory.

JV improves to 2-1 in El Camino League play after the win. Both Varsity and JV will play Fremont on Thursday in Sunnyvale.
